Service and Organization Controls (SOC) is a set of requirements, the fulfillment of which demonstrates the highest standards of management of the services provided. Suppliers that meet the SOC requirements prove in this way to their customers that the information and data entrusted to them are properly protected.

SOC was established on the initiative of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Verification of compliance with the requirements is entrusted to qualified auditors, ensuring the high quality of the assessment. Its results are presented in the audit reports. For some organizations, regulators require or recommend this kind of assurance.

Generally, an audit can be carried out according to the following standards:

• AICPA Audit according to SSAE 18 standard, and

• IFAC according to ISAE 3402 standard or according to ISAE 3000 standard.
